Grade bands served: Kindergarten through Grade 12

Environmental and Climate Education examines the natural systems Liberia depends on — rainforest, rivers, coastline and farmland — and the pressures acting on them: deforestation, mining, waste, coastal erosion, flooding and changing rainfall. Learners study ecological principles, measure their local environment, evaluate trade-offs between development and conservation, and design practical local responses. The tone is analytical and solution-oriented rather than alarmist.

Why this subject matters

Liberia holds a large share of the remaining Upper Guinean forest and faces serious coastal and flooding risks. Environmental competence is directly tied to livelihoods and safety.

Climate systems, deforestation and mining impacts, coastal erosion, waste management and energy sources.
