Grade bands served: Kindergarten through Grade 12

Computer Science teaches the principles beneath the tools: how machines represent information, how algorithms solve problems, and how hardware, software and networks fit together. It begins unplugged in Kindergarten with sequencing and instructions, becomes hands-on with block programming in the elementary grades, and develops into algorithms, data structures, systems and computing ethics in high school. It is taught as a science with reasoning and proof of correctness, not only as tool training.

Kindergarten – Grade 2

Unplugged sequencing, giving precise instructions, parts of a computer, and safe, supervised device use.

Grades 3–5

Algorithms and loops, block programming, files and folders, how the internet delivers information, and hardware basics.

Grades 6–8

Binary and data representation, program structure, functions, debugging, networks, and the social impact of computing.

Grades 9–12

Algorithms and complexity intuition, data structures, object-oriented concepts, databases, operating systems and computing ethics.
